Allegheny County Online Library Card Application (18+)
Residents of Allegheny County can sign up for a library card online. The card can be used to borrow books, DVDs, music, and other materials from any Allegheny County library. The card also enables users to reserve items through the catalog and access digital resources like eBooks and eAudio.
- Currently this service is only for adult patrons over 18. If seeking a card for child, business, or organization please visit your local library in person.
- If the system is unable to validate your information, you will be issued a temporary library card that allows you access to online resources for 14 days. To upgrade to a card with full borrowing privileges, visit any County library with proof of ID and current address.
- Pennsylvania residents who live outside of Allegheny County and are unable to visit a county library can send a picure of a photo ID with their current address to ACLA Library Staff to verify their card.
- Individuals that live outside of Pennsylvania must pay a $60 fee for a two-year access period. After registering, please visit the Out-of-State Library Card Portal to make the payment. Send the payment receipt and a picture of a photo ID with the current address to ACLA Library Staff for verification.
